Balance Welcomes On Pointe Physical Therapy…

On Pointe Physical Therapy is a wellness and injury prevention dance and sports rehabilitative studio committed to providing orthopedic therapeutic care to a diverse athletic population…from the student dancer and athlete, to the recreational dancer and athlete, to the seasoned professional.

On Pointe breaks from the traditional mold of physical therapy clinics by providing individualized, hands-on, one-on-one care. It is our mission to empower each client with knowledge of his/her body to become proactive in maintaining an active, healthy and injury-free lifestyle, and to reach his/her full fitness/performance potential.

Services

  • Physical Therapy.  One-on-one physical therapy examination and treatment for musculoskeletal injuries, pre and post-surgical procedures, and post-rehabilitative care.
  • Injury Prevention Screenings and Workshops. Injury prevention screenings via pre-season training for student and adult athletes. Workshops for groups to identify specific strength and conditioning tools used to improve sport and dance technique.
  • Video Analysis. Frame-by-frame analysis of dance or sport biomechanics used to identify technical faults to improve technique, promote more efficient movement patterns, prevent injury, and improve aesthetics.
  • Pointe Readiness Assessment.  Evaluation and assessment to determine if a ballet student is ready to begin pointe work.

What makes us unique

  • On-on-one care.  Your treatment program is tailored to fit your individual needs. The focus is on you…all of the time.
  • Straight and to the pointe.  On Pointe is strictly fee-for-service. Take the care of your body back into your own hands. We work with the individual client to determine frequency and length of care.
  • Prehab vs.Rehab. If you are physically active, injuries are bound to happen.  Learn strategies tailored to meet your physical demands and prevent and minimize injuries before they occur.
  • Commitment to the arts. On Pointe recognizes that a large number of performing artists do not have health insurance. That’s okay—we don’t take insurances anyway!  Sliding fee scales are available to professional performing artists seeking physical therapy services at affordable rates.

Hands-on Treatment

Rehab sessions may include use of the following hands-on techniques:

  • Regional Interdepedence Musculoskeletal Examination
  • Dance or sport specific therapeutic exercise
  • Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)
  • Muscle Energy Techniques (MET)
  • Soft Tissue Mobilization
  • Joint Mobilization
  • McKenzie Spinal Techniques
  • Postural Re-education

On Pointe Tip of the Month

Did you know…Losing just one pound can make a real difference in the way your knees feel?  Scientists in North Carolina looked at 142 overweight and obese older adults who had osteoarthritis of the knees.  They found that for each pound of weight people lost, there was a four pound reduction in pressure place on their knees as they walked.  That means shedding just one pound can lighten the load on the knees enough to slow the progression of osteoarthritis.
